Nestled in the heart of College Station is a laundromat like no other. Home to burgers, hotdogs and more, Harvey Washbangers delivers a unique atmosphere to get your laundry done while enjoying tasty food.

One of their more popular dishes, the So-Cal Burger, is a house favorite, leaving customers satisfied after finishing the plentiful portions. The burger, made with 100 percent angus beef and served with hand cut fries, is topped with avocado slices, bacon strips, spinach leaves, tomato slices, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo sauce, held together on a toasted challah bun.

The burger itself was cooked medium well, but the combination of flavors was enough to make the dish stand out from the rest. In an overly avocado-crazed world, the delicate slices of avocado on the burger were not too overbearing, providing a reasonable balance between the creamy avocado texture and the crisp, salty taste of the bacon paired with it. The chipotle mayo was a nice touch, making the burger a bit more unique than its regular mayo counterparts. The challah bun was perfect, not too much bread to where it overpowers the meat, but enough to compliment the rest of the ingredients. The flavors chosen paired well together, and combined to make a substantial meal, packed with flavor in every bite.

What the burger did not cover on the plate, the fries filled in. While they were certainly pleasant-tasting, they were not as outstanding as the burger, leaving more to be desired from the sides. However, for $10, the amount of food — and quality of the food — is an unbeatable offer. Alongside great meals, the unique atmosphere and homey environment makes Harvey Washbangers an ideal location for gathering with friends and family.
